Two years ago Ohio State superstar Maurice Clarett tried to break the NFL rule that requires you to be out of high school for three years before entering the NFL draft. When denied by the NFL, Clarett was forced to spend a two years out of college. After spending a two years out of college, you would assume that Clarett had been training, but he hadn’t.
He had gained a lot of weight and did horrible at the first trials. This was a wake up call for Clarett. He trained vigorously for the next month in preparation for the next trials. When they came he did a little better, but he still wasn’t the explosive player we all had seen a two years ago.
When the 2005 NFL draft came around, most did not expect him to be drafted, but he was Denver’s last pick of the draft. Most would assume that Clarett would be humble after his near miss, but he was soon trying to push for more money and a longer contract. Coach Shanahan didn’t like that very much, so he cut Clarett from his roster this week. I guess we won’t be seeing Clarett on the field this fall.
